In 2002, Bishop Chuck Murphy and Archbishop Emmanuel Kolini established the Anglican Mission in America to evangelize North America. Bishops from overseas, primarily Africa and Southeast Asia, provided episcopal coverage and connection to those desiring to have a faithful Gospel witness while still staying connected to the Anglican Communion. The Anglican Mission in America was birthed to provide a united, missionary effort to reach North America. Through various changes and challenges over the decades, the Anglican Mission now exists as Anglican Mission Society Global with five chapters around the world (Anglican Mission in America continuing as a ministry partner of the partner bishops).
